Olympus Dictation Recorder Terms

1. Olympus DS-2400 Dictation recorder LP (Long Play):: makes less detailed digital record of the sound and uses a narrower frequency range and uses up the available Flash memory much more slowly. This mode would be used for audio note-taking or recording college lectures or seminars in which large content is more important than high audio quality.

Variable Control Voice Actuator (VCVA): is a function that sets up the recorder to record automatically only when sound is detected at a pre-set level, and stop when the sound drops below the threshold level. The purpose of the function is to eliminate "dead air" during recordings, thereby conserving memory and shortening file times.
