Voice Productivity The DS-3400’s intuitive push-button controls simplify operation. The device has a large, backlit, easy-to-read LCD screen that reveals file information, recording time and events on the front of the recorder. Centralized navigation buttons enable easy data input and changes of settings. Users new to digital dictation as well as those on the leading edge will appreciate the DS-3400’s sophisticated feature set that can be customized to provide a seamless dictation solution suitable to their work environment. It is built to meet the needs of an active professional with robust buttons, USB connector and battery door. Power conservation is also central to the DS-3400’s intelligent design, which can record for up to 32 hours. Versatility The DS-3400 accepts SD/SDHC memory cards, providing users with media versatility.
      Three programmable buttons speed up reaction time. With no extraneous buttons, the DS-3400 enables users to program the functions they use the most onto three buttons for quick and effortless use. Intelligent Design The DS-3400 uses the quality DS2 sound recording format, and once audio files are stored on the device it can automatically compress or extend the number of files within five folders, up to 200 per folder. Each of the five storage folders is customizable by subject, date or however the user decides. With its three customizable Smart Buttons, the DS-3400 can be programmed with personal preferences for quick and easy control of the user’s most-used functions. Enhanced Usability The included user-friendly DSS Player Pro Release 5 software facilitates the archiving, editing and further processing of recordings. USB 2.0 High-Speed delivers fast downloads and uploads of files to and from the DS-3400.
     The verbal comment function allows users to record comments in dictation so a transcriptionist can better translate the authors’ directives or thoughts into their workflow. Sound Quality The DS-3400 features the DSS-Pro Digital Speech Standard with a new QP mode for improved sound quality. This mode records at a sampling rate of 16kHz with a compression rate of 28.0kbps and up to 32 index marks per file. In playback, the Smooth Cue/Review function makes it easier to hear words. Security Protecting the confidentiality and security of recordings is essential in the workplace. For this reason, the DS-3400 offers file encryption and device password protection. LCD with Multiple Language Support The user can customize the language displayed on the LCD (English, French or Spanish). This is a perfect dictation recorder for newbies to digital recorders. The ds3400 dictation recorder has clear audio and works great with my transcription kit. The emailing of the dictation files through the internet has really helped my cut time and cost of the dictation files. I am going to buy more ds3400 recorders has my transcription business grows.

I have used the olympus ds3400 for about 3 months now. We use it in our police field work. the unit fits nicely into our police duty pouch on our belt. We take down notes and statements of our police interviews, when I get back to the station I log them and burn cd for court evidence. The cue and review along with the digital dictation ability helps me use the ds3400 olympus to insert and delete notes on dictation with ease. I would say its worth the money if you are dictating allot of dictation and wont the dictation to have time date stamps embedded in the files. The time stamping of evidence is a huge advantage when trying to remember dates and times. The olympus ds3400 professional dictation recorder also has a password to lock evidence on the recorder from unauthorized usage. Law enforcement friendly and easy to use. The other advantage is removable SDHC memory cards. I can turn them over to the District attorney for discovery if the evidence needs to be an original copy for court. This is a huge plus since I can just pop into the ds3400 another sdhc card just like a tape recorder.

I now have around 3 of the olympus dictation recorders in our court room. We use them to dictate memos to each other. The judge uses them to dictate reports and dictation to his secretary. The olympus dictation recorder ds3400 has been a real partner in our court system. The emailing of dictation files is the best part of the dictation recorder.

I love this dictation recorder I just bought for police interview room recording. I use the recorder to interview suspects during investigations. The dictation recorder ds3400 makes it real easy to dictate and transcriber the dictation.

You cant find a better dictation recorder that is digital than the olympus ds3400. Compare and reviewed by customers the olympus ds3400 versus the philips dictation recorder and I chose the olympus ds3400 digital dictation recorder. The digital audio files are perfect for emailing around the office. Special note on the olympus ds3400, the display screen is very large and easy to read that is a special notice to those of us getting up there in age. I love it and recommended the olympus ds-3400 portable digital dictation recorder.
