Brand new Marantz PMD620MKII units.

The Marantz PMD620 MKII is a high performance handheld digital recorder that records to SD/SDHC flashcard media in either PCM (.WAV) or MP3 audio formats. This recorder is a perfect choice for Court Reporters who want to record HD audio without having to add external microphones.

Features include an built-in stereo condenser microphone array for ‘point and shoot recording,’ and an intuitive control surface for single handed operation, with thumb operated transport wheel and tactile, red illuminating, record button.

The use of SD cards, the most stable and commonly available type of flash media, includes support for SDHC (SD High Capacity) cards, with recording file size limited only by card capacity. Recording time with a 4 GB card extends from 3 hrs 44 mins for stereo PCM at 24-bit / 48 kHz, to 283 hrs 44 mins – almost 12 days – for mono MP3 at 32 kbps.

And for those users that record sensitive information, the PMD620MKII now features a passcode protect feature for the actual unit so unauthorized users cannot pick up the device and record or playback files of sensitive nature.

The Marantz PMD620 MKII is a high performance handheld digital  recorder that records to SD flashcard media in either PCM (.WAV) or MP3  audio formats. The light weight compact form (just 62 x 102 x 25 mm),  ergonomic design and ease of operation lend the PMD620 MKII  to a wide range of users, including journalists, Court reporters, municipal and meeting recorders, podcasters, musicians and sound recordists everywhere.

Features include an built-in stereo condenser microphone array for ‘point and shoot  recording,’ an intuitive control surface for single handed operation with thumb operated transport wheel and a tactile, red illuminating, record button. A high-contrast, low-power draw organic LED (OLED) screen provides vivid display of  menus which guide the user through the optimum set up and operation for their  application.

Record settings are selectable between those for high-quality music recording  to extended voice recording. The use of SD cards, the most stable and commonly  available type of flash media, including support for SDHC (SD High Capacity) cards,  provides recording file sizes limited only by card capacity. Recording time with a 4 GB card extends from 3 hrs 44 mins for stereo PCM at 24-bit / 48 kHz, to 283 hrs 44 mins –  almost 12 days – for mono MP3 at 32 kbps. Compatibility with SDHC media means  cards up to 32 GB in size can be utilized and the new built in ‘SD Card Check’  makes it easy and convenient to insert any SD card and ensure it’s compatibility.

The new ‘Retake’ feature allows a simple button press to take you back though the previously recorded audio to create a new drop-in point. This enables easy re-recording part way through unwanted takes ideal for dictation and verbal note gathering.

New security features have also been added into the MKII with Password Protection and File encryption abilities that work hand in hand to keep recordings  safe form unauthorized access. MP3 files can be encrypted to .MPS files and WAV  files encrypted to .WAS files. Both MPS and WAS files utilize a 4 digit password  protection feature so that only those with the 4 digit key can open and play the files either on the player, or in the new updated PMD Marker Editor software,  included in the box.

The free PMD Marker Editor software (for PC) allows marker points made on the  recorded file to be adjusted post-recording, and a new file created, meaning basic  editing can be carried out on any handy PC or laptop, and files posted for immediate distribution.

Applications include Broadcast and Journalism, Law Enforcement, Municipal and Court Recording, Government and Surveillance, Musicians, Dictation for Law, Medical, Education, Meetings, and Recording.

  1. An indispensable utility for court reporters 5 Star Review

Posted by on 10th Sep 2016

I purchased a Marantz PMD-620 MKII to replace its earlier version the PMD620, which gave up the ghost after about 10 years of solid, failsafe use as a first-class professional grade audio backup. The MKII is almost exactly the same, except it's now all black - and is now made in China rather Japan (the way it is these days). It's a solid, intuitive, easy to use, lightweight and reliable unit - a must for court reporting these days. These units are not easy to find - top marks go not only to Marantz but also to Martel for making them readily available to us.

  2. A lot of power in a little package 5 Star Review

Posted by on 10th Aug 2016

Wow, a recorder with brilliant clear audio that I can also transcribe from if necessary! I'll buy that! This is my second one. No hassle with keeping microphone cords - just fire up the MKII and you're good to go! Omni-directional microphone, clearly understood buttons, ease of use - great little recorder!

  3. Great recorder - Court Reporter 5 Star Review

This is the second one I've gotten. Great recorder. I bought the second as a backup. Never had a problem with the first -- like I said...just a backup. Highly recommended and easy to use!

  6. Best marantz digital voice recorder 5 Star Review

Posted by on 5th Jul 2015

The marantz pmd620 professional handheld digital audio recorder has a superior sound to it. The 2 microphones on the top of the unit pick up voice clearly upto 45 feet. This is really important information if you dont want to use a external microphone. I have used marantz voice recorder for over 6 years now and decided it was time for a new one. So if you are asking me about durability I would tell you, the marantz recorders are a good investment if audio quality is important to you.

Posted by on 19th Sep 2014

I Searched everywhere and this price of $298 is the best deal ever. Plus free shipping. Nice! I use this recorder in my court reporter business and the sound is HD without using any external microphones. It is even better than the videographers audio.

  9. Super fantastic microphone on the top of this digital recorder 5 Star Review

I dont need to use external microphones with this recorder. It has the best internal microphone. Perfect for news gathering or meeting recording.
