Court Reporter Microphone. As the most powerful microphone on the market, the HGM-1 has finally allowed reporters to record the people needed, without the troublesome background noise. The HGM-1 will get you at least triple the audio pickup of the lesser microphones on the market. Most digital and tape recorders come with an inexpensive mic that will only pickup voices from 2 to 3 feet. There's a number of reasons for this, such as lack of power to the mic (no battery). If your mic doesn't use a battery, then its made for dictating (speaking within 2-3 feet of it). The HGM-1 utilizes a hi-power battery which lasts 300 hours and the mic actually tracks voices up to 45 feet away. While reporting a board meeting, we had problems with the PA system. I had board members 100 feet away ,and I struggled to hear the members as they spoke. After notifying them of my inability to hear clearly, the meeting went on.
